Excavation game

CrustBust

Dig the real Earth all the way to its core.

What it is

CrustBust is a shared excavation game on a real 3D globe: pick any 32 × 32 m plot on Earth, demolish the buildings standing there and dig through soil, rock and mantle towards the core.

Genesis

CrustBust started from a childhood question: what would you find if you kept digging under your own street? Putting the real planet, real places and a persistent shared underground in one browser game became the way to answer it.

Why it exists

Maps let you look at the world but never dig into it. CrustBust turns every place on Earth into a playable plot, where each stroke is kept and other diggers can join the same hole.

What you can do

  • Fly over a real 3D globe and pick any plot from a city search
  • Dig real holes, shafts and tunnels with tools from a shovel to a tunnel borer
  • Demolish OpenStreetMap buildings and uncover finds hidden at depth
  • Save progress on a site pass and reserve a plot for an hour, a day or a week
